Maimonides of Brooklyn
MOB is the bomb.
The eating atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, with cafeteria style large wood tables in the entrance.
Behind the large tables is a counter with a clear view of the kitchen, where kosher vegan magic happens.
We got a table outside in comfortable lounge chairs and enjoyed Three Philosophers beer by Ommegang brewery from upstate New York. We sipped as families dined at patio tables in the large backyard square.
The waitress was extremely kind and calm. Very enthusiastic about the inspiring food. She brought out complimentary kale chips.
Complimentary kale chips.
We snacked and sipped, in heaven, until our meals came out.
We got the MOB California Burger, which was a cremini mushroom burger topped with caramelized onions on a sweet potato bun with herb cashew cheese spread and sliced avocado. Beside it was one of the best pickles I’ve ever had, by a company named Brooklyn Brine. I think I said that aloud around five times in disbelief. The burger was hearty and authentic. It made us say “who needs seitan?”
We also got the Baked Artichoke Macaroni which was in a sweet potato cashew cheese sauce with artichoke, broccoli rabe, and smoked pecans on top.
Gourmet Mac and cheese.
This only added to the disbelief. We were definitely in vegan heaven. It was smokey, original, and even made a sweet little vegosamigo change her mind about artichokes.
We explained how good the food was in detail to the wonderful waitress who, in response, told us that they “aim to amaze.”
Well they sure freakin did.
Though the menu wasn’t huge, I’m sure the rest will please the same way these two dishes did. Next, we try their brunch.
Go there! And be amazed.
By the way, complimentary kale chips.
